I'm reading I am David....anyone want to be my "reading partner"???

I Am David

I have varied opinions about this novel as I have finally finished reading it. I Am David is a heartwarming story, pleasant, about human nature, and a boy who is kind, caring and loving. I liked how the author described David, and what he sees and says, however...

This is a novel about running across Europe, and there are parts where I want to run from it! There are novels that I have read which are about what a child thinks about his/her difficult situation during the war, and their point of view on the world. Personally, I prefer novels with more action and less "thinking". To me, this novel seemed to move too slowly.

I think that this novel was started in Bulgaria during WWII, in one of the smaller concentration camps. The setting changes as David makes his way across Europe towards Denmark. However, in this book, the setting does not really matter, as the main idea in this story is David, what he thinks and what he does.
